A total 180 degree turn from the somber depth of his more "serious" work, Lance loves to find respite in the simple love of painting birds and butterflies. His underpainted colors dance wildly under thick, luscious strokes of unimaginable combinations of hues. While some works are delicately rendered in elegant fashion, others splash on the canvas in a frenzy of strokes, drips, scratching, and scraping that somehow come out manifesting a winged creature that is at once frivolous and sacred, symbols of flight and resurrection.
